Every first Thursday in November for the past 27 years the Flora Academic Foundation and WNOI have hosted a Radiothon in the commons at Flora High School. It is a fundraiser to support many activities funded by the FAF. The co-chairs were Tina Pieplow and Crystal Luttrell and the emcee was FHS’s vice principal, Mr. McNeely. The Radiothon broadcasted for around 3 and a half hours.
Anyone with musical or vocal talent can be in the Radiothon, although they look for younger people like highschool students and elementary students, Mrs Massie said. Over 20 acts attended the Radiothon this year.
“The Kindergarten students usually kick off with the pledge of allegiance and then sing another song.” said Dr. Hackney. 20,000 dollars was the financial goal for this year’s Radiothon. FAF not only met their goal, but exceeded it with a grand total of $20,046.
